In a growing trend to protect and restore natural areas in yards, Bill and Elizabeth Higginbotham have worked to restore their home property and protect it in perpetuity with the Georgia Piedmont Land Trust.

 

Georgia Audubon and National Wildlife Federation have also certified their property as wildlife habitat and sanctuary, which is currently listed as a private forest on the Old Growth Forest Network.​
